Haldis (Holly) Allen

Watts Funeral Home Obituary

Haldis (Holly) Allen, age 92, entered heaven’s gates on October 28, 2017 at North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, Florida.

Holly was born as a fraternal twin on September 7, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York to Thea Kristofferson Lanqva and Benjamin Welde, Norwegian immigrants. She and her sister, Olga (Ollie) grew up in the city and both started their careers there. She married Pete Felix in 1943 who was in the navy which took them to many places all over the world. During their marriage of 55 years they had two children, Rodney Kirk Felix and Corrine Joyce Felix. After Pete’s passing, she married Theodore (Ted) Allen in 2001 and they were married 14 years until he preceded her in death in 2015.

Holly is survived by her son, Rodney Kirk Felix, Sr. (Frances); their children, Rodney Kirk Felix, Jr. and Laura Anne Copeland (Hogan); son-in-law, Jim Goar (Judy) – he and Corrine’s children, Susan Massey (Mark), John Goar (Torii), Tom Goar (Emma), and Holly Rowden (Nick). There are 9 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Ollie’s children, Glenn and Lori will also miss her greatly.

A long-time resident of Satsuma, Florida, she was known by many has “Happy Holly” because of the joyful attitude she always maintained. Holly was a very independent woman, enjoyed dancing very much and most times would be the last dancer standing. As most of you know, she bowled every Wednesday and was an active member of the Moose and Eagles where she attended activities and met with friends several times a week. She led a very active life, visited her friends in nursing homes weekly, and just lit up the room when she walked in. She always had a positive attitude and made everyone feel like a million bucks by just spreading her joy. She also was a member of Welaka Methodist Church for many years. We will miss her but we are all thankful she was part of our lives.

Preceding her in death are first husband, Pete Felix; daughter, Corrine Felix Goar; twin sister, Olga (Ollie) Sundheimer; second husband, Theodore Allen; son-in-law, David Wortner; grandson, James (Jimmy) Goar.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11 o’clock, to be held at Watts Funeral Home in Palatka, Florida.
